Celebrity plastic surgery news tends to be all about who got what done to their cheeks, hairline or other, less socially mentionable piece of their anatomy.
However some surgeries are, in a real sense, career saving. Or at least that’s the case for singers whose blood vessels begin leaking and who need to get surgery done on their vocal cords in order to keep doing what they love.
Adele, the latest in a long line of amazing singing sensations, is also one of the most recent victims of vocal cord issues.
In November 2011 she had to go under the knife to have her voice preserved, and anyone that’s heard her sing since would say that it was definitely a surgery that did its job.
But it isn’t just a once in a lifetime chance either, as recently other singers like John Mayer and Keith Urban have also had to have surgery to keep their pipes clean, as it were.
It’s not all fun and games being a recording artist, especially not one that has to get his or her throat opened up and blood vessels repaired.
There’s even a chance this will alter your voice and partially paralyze your vocal cords. However, once the surgery’s over, Dr. Kristine Tanner says, “then you have to work back up to your previous endurance level, like going back to the gym after being out for six weeks.”
Instances like this are perhaps one that everyone can agree on where surgery is not just a good idea, but it’s mandatory.
Singers have to care for their voices, otherwise they won’t have a career anymore. While babying your throat and taking good care of your voice is a good start though, just the rigors of what you do for a living might be enough to require surgery.
