Lindsay is well known for her previous drug use and the suggestion of plastic surgery to improve her looks.  The following video, however, shows why anyone who is considering plastic surgery should step back and spend a few moments thinking about it.

The Gloss recently ran an article about this  particular video:

This shouldn’t just be a PSA for why drugs are the evilest thing in the world, but why plastic surgery, if not done moderately, can be just as horrific on your face and body as drugs. If LiLo doesn’t ease up on the visits to her surgeon’s office, she’ll be looking like Jocelyn “The Lion Woman of New York” Wildenstein by the time she hits 30 years old. Scary.”

And perhaps most famous for her role in Little House on the Prairie as Laura Ingles Wilder, Melissa Gilbert has joined the ranks of stars on the ballroom floor.

And while many celebrities go on crash diets or hit the gym hard enough to knock it down, it appears that Gilbert has had an appointment with her plastic surgeon.

According to RadarOnline Dr. Anthony Youn, a specialist in celebrity plastic surgery, offered the opinion that the 47 year old Gilbert looks young and fresh faced; surprisingly so for her age:

“I suspect she’s had some Botox to her forehead and crows feet, effectively smoothing them out.”

Youn’s opinion is that Gilbert’s visage has had some temporary treatments to smooth it out, though the length of her face isn’t a visual illusion caused by Botox.

Rather it’s the result of time and past plastic surgery.

However, the end result is that Gilbert looks younger, fresher and definitely ready to dance for the latest offering of Dancing With the Stars.

Now the question is going to be how long her Botox treatment, if it’s Botox that she got since Gilbert didn’t confirm or deny the speculation, will last.

Botox is the injection of a neurotoxin into the face that makes the muscles let go and as a result it smooths out any wrinkles.

Of course Botox is a temporary treatment at best, lasting no more than a few months, so either the audience is going to see Gilbert age before their eyes of she does well, or she’s going to have to get a touch up treatment.

However, regular people get cosmetic surgery every single day.

And when people are asked what they want, what they usually ask for is the features of the famous; Angelina Jolie’s lips, Anne Hathaway’s nose or even Kim Kardashian’s butt are just a few requests that average folks have had for plastic surgeons over the years, according to Plastic Surgery Preview.

Some people though, take their imitation a lot farther than the realm of flattery.

For instance, the television show I Want a Famous Face, did very well as far as viewers that wanted to see average Joes and Janes pushed closer towards their celebrity dreams.

Of course you can’t turn someone into a photocopy of someone else even with the best plastic surgery and the highest budget, but that doesn’t seem to deter people from trying.

For instance, a woman in the United Kingdom spent $16K to turn herself into Michael Jackson according to Poutperfection.com.

And as if that wasn’t strange enough, a Chinese girl named XiaoQing has spent more money than one would ever want to turn into Jessica Alba.

And reportedly it’s all to win back her boyfriend!

So the question remains; if celebrities are getting plastic surgery to be more glamorous looking, has anyone realized the irony of getting plastic surgery to look like a celebrity?

And let’s say that, somehow, you could change your face to be the person that you idolized; what then?

Deal with hordes of screaming fans and constantly confused identities?

Just how many features are too much when you’re looking to recreate yourself with celebrity plastic surgery?

While a lot of celebrities might get on the front page getting caught with a face full of white powder, the incident involving Kim Kardashian wasn’t what you’d think if you heard it that way.

The reality star, famous for her looks and constantly covered in celebrity plastic surgery scandals and accusations, had been going about her business at the London West Hollywood, according to the Huffington Post, when she was flour-bombed by someone attending the event.

“That probably is the craziest, unexpected weird thing that ever happened to me,” Kim Kardashian was quoted as saying to E! Entertainment when she was asked about the incident.

Kardashian had been on the red carpet, so to speak, when she became the target of a flour bomb.

And while some celebrities might be accused of wearing too much powder, especially those trying to hide plastic surgery scars, Kardashian’s impromptu powdering at the hands of a woman in the audience was seen as a source of hilarity, rather than as something that ranked as scandalous in Kardashian’s league

Now normally when a celebrity gets hit with a big bomb like this, whether it’s glitter bombs at political rallies or flour bombs at public appearances, there’s going to be a reason.

While the Huffington Post didn’t list any statements from this particular incident, or possible motivations from the person that threw the bomb in the first place.

Kardashian for her part showed a certain style and grace, simply going to her hotel room, washing out the flour and then returning to the event that she’d come for in the first place.

After all, the best way to make sure that you win in situations like this is to just keep on with your life, and to be the bigger person in front of the cameras.

The list of rumored celebrities is a long one, including big names like Cher, Madonna, Sylvester Stallone and dozens if not hundreds of others, many of whom have confirmed their use of the injectable.

But with all of the popularity of the craze, it really needs to be stated what Botox is and just how it really works.

Botox is a neurotoxin. The full name of the toxin is botulinum toxin, and it paralyzes your muscles. The way it works is that, once injected in areas with wrinkles the toxin forces your body to relax and it can stop those muscles from functioning properly for 3-4 months, give or take.

So what is the future of Botox?

It can get rid of wrinkles, costs less than surgery and it all comes out of a basic needle; no cutting required. With that kind of a sales pitch it’s likely that Botox is going to stay popular for quite sometime as a celebrity plastic surgery alternative.

In fact its use has become so widespread that people these days may not even consider it plastic surgery, though it’s still most definitely a cosmetic procedure.

However, the new drug that’s coming up on its tail in America is a new injectable called Xeomin, and its buzz is loud enough to completely block out just what the hell this new miracle drug is in the war against wrinkles.

Simply put, Xeomin is a slightly less complicated chemical form of Botox.

There are different proteins that wrap the center core of this toxic treatment which makes the nerve endings let go of the muscles, and Xeomin has been particularly successful in treating the forehead wrinkles that form between and above the eyes.

But if it’s just diet Botox, then why is everyone so excited about Xeomin?

Or at least people in America, since Xeomin has been used under another name in Europe for years according to Make Me Heal.

The reason is how simple the formula for Xeomin is when compared to Botox in the first place. This simplification might mean that people who have very poor reactions to Botox injections, and thus no longer have them as an option, may be able to use Xeomin because of its simpler chemical nature.

However, Kourtney Kardashian has freely admitted to her celebrity plastic surgery, which includes breast implants and Velashape laser treatments used to get rid of her cellulite, according to Make Me Heal.

Also according to that site, now that she’s pregnant with her second child at the age of 32, Kourtney Kardashian is regretting some of her cosmetic decisions over the years.

“It was so dumb,” she said, referring to her decision to get breast implants at the age of 22, an age that most girls haven’t quite finished developing just yet:

“I just got the idea in my head one day, and that was that. There was no talking me out of it.”

Of course, Kourtney also went on to explain that she hadn’t done her due diligence and researched the procedure she was going to get.

And as anyone that’s made a major purchase, whether it’s been a brand new car or a full mural back tattoo, research is one of the biggest parts of making a choice like this.

However, while she’s unsatisfied with her surgery, Kourtney Kardashian hasn’t made any noises about having the implants removed and altering herself even further, even though she’s breastfed with her implants.

Rather than being a statement on plastic surgery in general, this snippet of the Kardashian sister’s regret points out that surgery isn’t a cure-all for cosmetic situations.

And if you’re going to get plastic surgery, whether you’re a movie star or you’re just an average Joe or Jill that wants to change something about yourself, it’s important to get a surgeon with experience that you can trust.

And of course to research your surgical procedure.

Some women may want Scarlett Johansson’s lips, or Anne Hathaway’s eyes, or even Halle Berry’s jawline. This is a good way to begin fleshing out the process, so to speak, but how representational are the comparisons to celebrity bodies when it comes to figuring out what the perfect features are?

Well if you check Marie Claire magazine in Australia, they’ve released an image of the perfect woman. Or at least she would be, if she was a single whole that was decided by popularity, according to the magazine.

The magazine, seeking to take the best loved parts of all of the celebrity women out there in the market, compiled an image of the perfect woman.

She has; Scarlett Johanson’s lips, Anne Hathaway’s eyes, Taylor Swift’s hair, January Jones’s cheeks, Halle Berry’s jaw, an Natalie Portman’s nose. All in all it’s a very unusual and unique project, but with clever editing and some artistic flair, the final product looks like it really could be someone that you’d see posing on the red carpet for a starving press eager for more.

This does raise an interesting question when it comes to plastic surgery, particularly when it’s for people that aren’t celebrities.

Do we want to look like the rich and famous enough to go under the knife to have our features molded to resemble those of our film and stage idols?

Or, alternatively, if you get surgery should it be to make you a better you, rather than a you that looks more like someone you’ve seen up on the silver screen?

Neither of these have answers, not really, but the perfect woman definitely asks these questions.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been pretty quiet on her views of plastic surgery up until fairly recently.

Recently she’s been promoting a healthy and natural lifestyle, replete with good skin care and all of the cleansing necessary to keep the body free from toxins. But according to an interview she gave to Harper’s Bazaar the star finally admitted that she does take some baby steps in the field of celeb plastic surgery.

Honestly though, people hungry for juicy gossip will say that what Paltrow goes in for shouldn’t even be called surgery.

“I don’t like the Botox thing,” Paltrow was quoted as saying in reference to the trend for injecting areas of the face with a minor neurotoxin as a way to eliminate wrinkles.

“Little things, like lasers,” are more Paltrow’s style, and they fit much more seamlessly into her lifestyle where she’s taking care of herself naturally and trying to preserve herself without putting anything into herself.

Of course, these views have a good chance of sparking an old celebrity plastic surgery debate; just who decides what is or isn’t plastic surgery?

While most people would agree that a face lift, a nose reconstruction or liposuction are all surgical procedures, and invasive ones at that, what about cosmetic procedures with smaller changes that are less invasive?

Is Botox really surgery even though it’s just a needle put under the skin and a chemical that’s injected in? Are laser treatments plastic surgery, even though nothing goes under the skin at all and the only thing affecting the body is light?

It’s a fairly fine line to draw, especially when you consider the sheer richness of Hollywood’s love affair with the perfect, and surgery to get them there.
